Golden Leaf Scholarship

The Golden Leaf Continuing Education scholarship provides up to $925 for individuals with a financial need who reside in a tobacco-dependent and/or economically distressed county in North Carolina. Additional criteria must be met as well. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, HVAC, Cosmetology Instructor Training, Nail Technician, Natural Hair Care Specialist, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide I & II, EKG Technician, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Initial & Advanced, Paramedic and Firefighter Academy.

Students must complete the Golden Leaf application and provide current tax information. 

State Employee Credit Union (SECU) Scholarship

SECU Foundation has established the SECU Bridge to Career Program to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials that leads to sustainable wages. The eligible training courses are CDL Truck Driver Training, HVAC, Cosmetology Instructor Training, Nail Technician, Natural Hair Care Specialist, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide I & II, EKG Technician, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Initial & Advanced, Paramedic and Firefighter
Academy.

To receive this $500 scholarship, an individual must meet the following criteria.

  • U.S. citizen and a North Carolina resident
  • Be part of one of the following target groups: unemployed or underemployed, members of the NC National Guard, military veterans and spouses, or underserved populations in a specific workforce sector or area
  • Not be a Director, employee, or family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation

Students must complete the SECU application.

Short-Term Workforce Development (STWD) Grant Program

Nash Community College has been awarded a Short-Term Workforce Development (STWD) Grant for eligible students pursuing workforce pathways in CDL Truck Driver Training, HVAC, Cosmetology Instructor Training, Nail Technician, Natural Hair Care Specialist, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide I & II, EKG Technician, Emergency Dispatch Academy, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Initial & Advanced, Paramedic and Firefighter
Academy that lead to a State or industry-recognized credential. This grant will help address the cost of tuition/registration fees, course fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare, and any other components of the total cost of attendance. 

Eligible students applying for this $750.00 scholarship must be a resident of North Carolina as outlined in G.S. 116-143.1 and follow the coordinated and centralized residency determination process administered by the State Education Assistance Authority known as NC Residency Determination Service (RDS).

Students must complete the STWD Grant application.

Campus tours are by appointment only and must be made in advance by completing the Campus Tour Request form. During the tour, we will view classrooms, Midway Cafe, NCC Library, Campus Store, Science and Technology Building, Business and Industry Center, and our five-star rated Child Development Center.
