Nash Community College and Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) joined forces on Feb. 13 to host an exciting Career and Technical Education (CTE) Showcase, attracting hundreds of attendees from all ages. The event highlighted the diverse opportunities available in CTE programs, showcasing hands-on learning experiences and highlighting career pathways in industries like healthcare, technology, trades, and more.
Guests had the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, talk with instructors and industry professionals, and learn about the many programs designed to prepare students for in-demand careers. In addition to informative displays, prizes were awarded to several lucky attendees.

A special feature of the event was a display of electric vehicles (EVs) from Davenport Auto, The Tesla Car Club of Raleigh, and other EV owners, allowing attendees to learn more about the future of transportation and sustainable energy. NCC’s Director of Corporate Training and Apprenticeships Rhonda High led the EV showcase as part of the college’s National EVHybridNoire Fellowship opportunity. NCC is the only community college represented amongst universities across the country in the 2024-25 e-mobility fellowship program with two fellows, Zachary Richardson and Imari Silver, with High and Shirley Sykes as their advisors. The college also supports e-mobility through its STEPs4GROWTH Clean Energy Vehicle pre-apprenticeship program.
“Through our fellowship and apprenticeship programs, we are not only providing valuable hands-on experience to students but also helping to create a sustainable and innovative workforce for the future,” said High.

The event also featured several food trucks, providing a variety of options for attendees to enjoy while exploring the showcase. The event was a great success, offering a fun and educational experience for families, students, and community members of all ages.
Amy Harrell, Vice President of Instruction/Chief Academic Officer at Nash Community College, played a key role in organizing the event and bringing it all together. “The CTE Showcase was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the wide range of career options available through our programs at Nash Community College,” Harrell said. “This event highlights the importance of Career and Technical Education in shaping the future of our local workforce, and we are thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm from our community.”
NCC remains committed to providing valuable educational opportunities and resources to students, empowering them to enter high-demand industries and pursue successful careers. This event serves as a testament to the college’s dedication to career readiness and workforce development.
