Nash Community College to Host North Carolina’s Second “Girl Power” Event October 8

Nash Community College will host North Carolina’s second Girl Power event on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, bringing together students, educators, and industry leaders to inspire the next generation of women in utility and infrastructure careers.

The hands-on learning experience will introduce participants to overhead and underground power distribution, fiber operations, and other critical skills essential to high-demand energy and utility careers. Designed to break barriers and encourage young women to pursue opportunities in traditionally male-dominated fields, the event will feature live demonstrations, networking with industry professionals, and practical exposure to vital infrastructure roles.

“NCC is proud to offer Girl Power Camp as part of our expanding electrical lineworking and workforce development initiatives,” said Wendy Marlowe, Vice President of Continuing Education & Economic/Workforce Development at NCC. “As the only college in North Carolina to offer a two-year associate degree in Electrical Lineworking (along with pre-apprenticeship, diploma, and certification programs), we are committed to creating clear pathways into this essential industry.”

“This event is about empowerment and exposure,” said Brian Morehouse, Director of Marketing or S&N, one of the event’s key planners. “We want these young women to see the possibilities and know that they have a place in these industries.”

The Girl Power event at Nash Community College is expected to draw students, educators, and industry leaders from across the region.
